How to
hire a Disc Jockey
7 questions to ask your DJ
- Get it in writing! Every professional DJ works
with a signed contract. It should contain the date, time, amount to be paid and the name of the
DJ talent who will be at your event. Does your DJ need a setup table, electric
outlets, or to get into your venue early to set up? Put it all in writing in your contract so there are
no surprises the day of your event.
- Make sure you have a confirmed
booking. To reserve your date, a DJ will require you to sign a
contract and provide a deposit; usually 25-50%. Your contract should also
detail the DJ's cancellation policy. Some DJ's also offer a
guarantee. It's a good idea to
confirm your disc jockey carries
liability insurance in case the unthinkable happens. Note that some venues require a "Certificate of
Insurance" for all vendors.
