How to
hire a Disc Jockey
Tips for getting a great DJ
- Don't be afraid to ask for 2 or 3 references and
CALL THEM! Be sure the references are recent and for the specific DJ
who will be at your event; not merely for the company.
- Confirm how your DJ will be dressed for the
event. Having a disc jockey in jeans front of wedding
guests who are wearing gowns and tuxedos makes a bad appearance. For
parties, ask your DJ to wear something festive and less formal.
- How will the DJ's gear appear to your
guests? No one
wants to see a bunch of wires hanging out of gear thrown on a
banquet table. Professional DJ's use draped cases or
consoles. Wires should be tucked out of site or taped down for
safety.
- Schedule a personal meeting with your DJ.
Like hiring a caterer by tasting their food, make sure your DJ's
personality is a good fit for the "flavor" of your event.
